Traditions - Are they really that bad?
Traditions , customs , habits you can put any label you want on them , they are embedded in the history of the church - your church and mine. What relegates a good tradition from a bad tradition? The answer is the origin , did it come from God or men ? Is it pertinent for today . Is it based in Bible fact? Is that Bible fact part of the new covenant? And most importantly does it hinder or promote the work of God. Our traditions may be true Bible doctrine or just as in Jesus' day it can be our interpretation
of what we think He meant. To have a dynamic New Testament Church and to continue to grow and press forward in our relationship with God we need to evaluate these issues. We must be willing to discard our thoughts for His - I mean we preachers preach to our congregations week in and week out to renew their thinking .Right? And what we so many times mean weither we want to admit it or not is we want them to start thinking like us. Brethren it is time to lay aside what we think or have been taught and reread our Bibles and keep what's right and what works and throw the rest out with the trash. God desires to move in our churches yes , but He also desires to impact your community. Enter Transition Zone...

...the TRANSITION ZONE...
Mention the words change and transition , and see who responds to what and how they respond. This will give you a good idea of where your church is and where it is going. If you meet with opposition the chances are good that your church is heading towards the cementary. If there is a reseptivity the chances are people want God's plans and are tired of the ruts those of your church have created with there comfort zones and self-satisfaction. The Hard part of the whole thing is this , but let me remind you that this is the greatest thing you could ever do for your church or the ministry God has entrusted you with, you must become a new wineskin. You must enter the death valley zone so to speak. You must allow God to re-invent you.Enter the NEW WINESKIN...
